LEGEND

In the dark forests dwell the Gnomes—small, yet extremely dangerous spirits of the Lowlands.

It’s believed that they were once guardians of the earth’s treasures—ores, stones, and metals. But human greed corrupted them, and they absorbed all that’s the lowest in human hearts: cunning, pettiness, envy, and delight in others’ misfortune.

Now the Gnomes skulk in the shadows, whispering evil words, sowing discord, and undermining trust among people. They’re short but incredibly agile—and will find any weak spot anywhere.

Their power lies in their numbers: a single small act of malice may seem insignificant, but when accumulated, it can destroy the very foundation of life.

CARD MEANING

UPRIGHT POSITION

Short meaning:

Greed, pettiness, dirty gossip, lowly actions, malice, minor betrayals, manipulation, nastiness, ill will.

Extended meaning:

In the upright position, the Gnome indicates that someone near you or in the surrounding situation embodies:
— small but highly toxic behavior;
— low conduct, deceit, gossip;
— someone polluting the atmosphere, spreading negativity, provoking conflicts;
— petty thefts, tricks, hidden manipulations;
— behavior driven by envy, desire to take, devalue, or harm;
— unscrupulous methods of opposition;
— degradation of emotions or actions (“stooping low”).

This is a warning card:
“Be cautious. There is a small but dangerous energy among you.”

Sometimes, the card also reflects your own tendencies: minor anger, vindictiveness, or the desire to retaliate with meanness, which will not bring success.

REVERSED POSITION

Short meaning:

Cleansing from malice, rejecting pettiness, ending gossip, honesty, nobility, rising above the lowly, and ending minor conflicts.

Extended meaning:

In the reversed position, the Gnome represents victory over low energies. It signifies:
— purification of the atmosphere;
— stopping rumors or manipulations;
— revealing lies and malice;
— rejecting pettiness and raising moral standards;
— performing noble actions instead of low ones;
— ending toxic relationships or cleansing a group;
— restoring honor and dignity.

It also indicates that you will not stoop to others’ lowliness but will remain on a higher moral level.

The card says:
“Light overcomes petty darkness. You rise above.”
