The Woodman

LEGEND
In the deep forests, where moss grows in a thick carpet, and mushrooms rise like columns along the trunks, lives the Woodman — the ancient lord of trees, roots, birds, beasts, and all living things that breathe beneath the forest canopy.
He is not merely a spirit of nature. He’s “the Master”, “the Warden”, “the Judge”, and “the Protector, the Patron of Hunters.”
They say the Woodman sees the heart of everyone who steps onto his land. Those who come with goodwill and a sincere heart, he leads by the shortest path, guides with signs, and opens hidden trails toward health, home, ancestral protection, and strength.
But those filled with arrogance, malice, greed, or deceit — he frightens, confuses, leads in circles, and draws into darkness until they lose their pride or fear.
In brief, he only values these traits: sincerity, honesty, and respect for one’s roots.
CARD MEANING
UPRIGHT POSITION
Short meaning:
Master, ruler, protection, the right path, support from elders or the family line, spiritual foundation, respect for home and surroundings, blessing of nature, authenticity of intentions.
Extended meaning:
In the upright position, the Woodman appears as a sign that:
— You’re on land where you have the right to be;
— Your intentions are pure, and your actions are correct;
— You’re supported by the forces of family lineage, nature, or elder mentors;
— The path is open if you remain honest with yourself and with others;
— You may receive protection, help, or blessing if you show respect;
— It’s now important to be the master of your home, your life, and your feelings;
— The Woodman guides those who honor the forest and do not step with arrogance onto another’s land.
The card indicates that you’ll find strength in your family, in your lineage. The Woodman may also point to the fact that you can resolve problems with the support and help of your close circle; it’s precisely close people who will give you strength and help you now. Perhaps you need to pay more attention to your family.
In addition, this is a card that indicates luck in hunting (in various senses). It may suggest that you can now catch your fortune, but to do so you must trust your instincts, pursue your prey, be predatory in some sense — active, decisive — and hunt, run, fight, and earn your trophies. Achieving a true, great victory will be aided by the support of loved ones. With them, you’re stronger.
This card reminds:
“Be sincere — and the Woodman will become your patron.”
REVERSED POSITION
Short meaning:
Deception, arrogance, loss of direction, lack of respect, problems in the home or family, confusion, punishment for impure intentions, and mistakes caused by pride.
Extended meaning:
In the reversed position, the Woodman warns:
— You have strayed from your path due to impure motives or pride;
— A conflict arises in the home, family, or among those who should be respected;
— You have lost your spiritual foundation, and therefore are being led in circles;
— Arrogance, ego, or disrespect for territory or elders may lead to problems;
— Something in your life is being done “not in a human way”: incorrectly, dishonestly, or by avoiding responsibility;
— You’re beginning to lose support because you are not holding to your own principles.
Perhaps the card indicates that somewhere you showed arrogance, distanced yourself from a person who needs you now, or whom you need. Most likely, because of this, you have lost your bearings and the opportunity to receive necessary support.
In addition, the card may indicate that a hunt has begun against you — someone predatory has set their sights on you, and you should be cautious. Family and friendly support will help you get out of the problem.
The Woodman in the reversed position says:
“Think not only of yourself. Return to honesty — or you will become even more lost.”
